Once the nuts on the end of the long starter motor thru bolts have been removed and the clamp has been slackened off it should be possible to slide the starter motor away from the crankcase and magneto housing. Note the seal between the starter motor and the rest of the engine is provided by a fairly heavy duty o-ring (arrow) and this may produce some resistance. Here is the removed heavy duty electric starter motor on the bench.
