Note the small arrow stamped on the crown of the piston. Whichever side of the engine the piston is installed on a 912 piston will always have this arrow pointing towards the PTO end of the crankshaft. Here also you can see a view of a single monohook piston pin circlip. A new one of these should always be used everytime the piston is put back on the piston pin e.g. these are a one-use only part. Finally the piston ring compression "spanner" or tool is shown here. This is a specialist Rotax tool that makes light work of compressing the pistons rings when it comes to sliding the barrel over the piston ...
